REU at UAH
(May 16- June 30, 2007)
The Research
Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program at the University of Alabama
in Huntsville focuses on the design, construction and application of
advanced composite materials. Undergraduate students who participate
in this nine week program engage in a number of activities that help
develop their research skills and ability to conduct unsupervised research
work . Participants are given the opportunity to conduct research at
NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, located at a short distance from
the campus.
Participants receive a stipend of $2,500 for the summer in addition
to free housing and up to $300 travel allowance.
Activities
Students participate in seminars delivered by faculty, staff and
practicing professionals on a variety of topics related to the conduct
of research. They also interact with faculty members and graduate and
undergraduate students for guidance and consultation throughout the
training period. They execute research projects tasks and present the
final results.
